Getting Lei'd The Escape Series Book 1 edition by Ann Omasta Literature Fiction eBooks

I totally loved the premise of this book. The MC gets dumped at the altar via text message and her spunky grandmother and sister drag her along to Hawaii where she was supposed to be going on her honeymoon. The pacing was great, I didn't find the story slowing down at any point and I'm a sucker for a HEA, so this book really hit the spot. As I read I kept picturing these characters as movie actors in a romantic comedy, Bette White and Sandra Bullock specifically. In addition to being a sweet romantic story, it was just plain funny, too. If you're looking for a light-hearted feel good story, this is for you.

Getting Lei'd The Escape Series Book 1 edition by Ann Omasta Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

My strong woman in this story is not who you would expect. Baggy (for Bad Grandma) doesn’t care who sees her doing her own thing or what they think of her. So the jilted bride joins Baggy in her ex-groom’s car and goes on her honeymoon. You won’t believe what happens to the three of them. Loved this story.
A cute, funny romance. The writing style was a bit "telly." I would have liked more dialog and seeing the action play out, rather than having Roxy telling the story so much. The story was still fun to read. Baggy (Bad Grandma) takes the show, however. She's certainly not your stuffy, sit in a chair knitting kind of grandmother.
Had me giggling from the very start.

The Grandma Baggy character is a hoot; I just love her.

There is not a lot of detail to the story, but who cares? This is a lighthearted, hysterical romp around a Hawaiian island. Throw logic out the door and get lei'd.

Written in first person present tense, which is, in my opinion, the absolute worst for romance.

I was given a copy of this book by the Scout program.
Wow. I really, really loved this book. I normally don't read romance novels, but the cover/title drew me in. I read the description on Scout and was hooked by the excerpt. This book had me laughing and crying, and I read it at lightning speed because I simply could not put it down. I saw the whole thing play out on the big screen the whole time I was reading. I loved the Hawaiian setting, and the characters were so real and full of color that I was drawn into their emotions easily. Especially Baggy, the grandmother, who was hilarious. The romance aspect is fun and steamy, although as a disclaimer I will say that Kai is the kind of man who kind of makes all real live men pale in comparison. Super fun read, and perfect to curl up with on a lounge chair by the pool or beach.
A no-go text message from the groom was all the notice Roxie got moments before her wedding. Her unpredictable grandma decided the only thing to do was to have a girls’ holiday – on Roxie’s called-off honeymoon in Hawaii. Numb, Roxie let herself be swept along by events. For once, she isn’t the sensible one.

The island and its inhabitants welcome the party of three to Hawaii, exerting subtle healing magic on Roxie, her sister, and her grandma. Love is definitely in the air.

Or is the attraction they are feeling to island men a crazy holiday fling?

A poignant tale about letting go, knowing what you want, and going for it. I have only one question for Scout winning author Omasta. Any more of that love potion around?

Kai.who takes them to the perfect Honeymoon cottage. When they meet for drinks later Kai is their bartender.betweenTheir is a spark between Foxy and Kai It continues thru the story. He saves her from a sworn.of.jellyfish,and she discovers his Mama's secret jelly and gives her 3 jars.In the meantime.Baggy has found true love. Her sister also found a man.Foxy makes a move on Kai. and is rejected. He explains he made a promise to his Mother to remain a virgin until he finds true love.Confused,Foxy goes home. While there she realizes leaving was a mistake. She returns looking Kia and discovers Baggy getting married and her parents there. Will she find Kia in time to confess her feelings and will he feel the same. This is nice feel-good romance for those who enjoy happy endings!
When Roxie gets dumped at the altar, her grandmother, Baggy, and her sister, Ruthy, decide to take her Hawaii to help get over the loss. What ensues is romance, comedy and an adventure that the three women will never forget.

Roxie meets a local hunk named Kai who is beloved by all, but a secret keeps the two of them apart. Roxie can't understand why Kai won't consummate their relationship, despite his seeming interest in her. Further depressing her is the fact that Baggy and Ruth have discovered romance and are enjoying themselves immensely.

Getting Lei'd is a fun, easy summer novel that fans of romantic comedy will surely enjoy. Baggy was my favorite character by far. She reminded me of the character Susan Sarandon in the movie Tammy; whacky and wild. Although I'm not usually a fan of romcoms, I have to say that I really enjoyed this one and finsihed it in less than a day. Check this one out for a great beach read.
